In the libraries of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk, Donetsk, Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the seizure of Ukrainian historical and fiction literature has begun, which does not coincide with the postulates of Kremlin propaganda. To do this, Russian units of the military police are involved. At present, in addition to repressive actions, they perform also so-called: ideological functions.

The occupiers have a whole list of names forbidden to be mentioned. Among them are: Mazepa, Petliura, Bandera, Shukhevych, Chornovil.
Found books are confiscated, destroyed on the spot or taken away in an unknown direction.
The police are most interested in books on the history of Ukrainian Maidans, ATO / OOS, and the history of Ukrainian liberation struggles. “Extremist” literature includes school textbooks on Ukrainian history, scientific and popular historical literature.
