Camps for prisoners of war of the Russian occupiers began to function in Ukraine. This was confirmed by Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova.
The camps will allow for the centralized detention of prisoners of war in accordance with all norms of international humanitarian law.
Comment: Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktov:
“Of course, our prisoners of war have to be in special military camps, and we have worked it out. We have signed a joint order with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other relevant services, but this issue is specific to them. “
She also noted that a specially created law enforcement agency, the Military Law Enforcement Service, is responsible for the prisoners.
The Prosecutor General emphasizes that Ukraine works within the framework of international humanitarian law, national legislation and does not cross any borders.
