The governments of Scotland and Wales are ready to receive 4,000 refugees from Ukraine under the Homes for Ukraine program.
This is stated in a joint statement by the governments of Scotland and Wales, according to the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
The Homes for Ukraine program provides that refugees can agree on accommodation with individuals or legal entities. However, the United Kingdom is not involved.
However, the countries themselves initiated state aid for Ukrainians, agreeing that Scotland will accept 3,000 migrants and Wales – 1,000.
The Center reminds that according to the latest estimates of the UN Migration Agency, about 6.5 million Ukrainians became internally displaced and 3.2 million people went abroad because of the Russian war.
