Almost half of the territory of Ukraine needs to be demined

According to the SES, due to the large amount of ammunition left by the occupiers, demining requires about 300 thousand square meters. km of the territory of Ukraine. This is almost half the area of ​​the country.

This was stated at a briefing in Kyiv by the head of the Department of Pyrotechnic Works and Humanitarian Demining of the State Emergency Service Oleh Bondar, Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Due to large-scale mining by the enemy, a very large area of ​​fields in Ukraine can not yet be used for agricultural activities.

“To date, we have conducted an indicative analysis of the areas where it is necessary to make a set of measures for humanitarian demining, and this is a technical survey of the territory. According to our preliminary estimates, this is about 300 thousand square kilometers, if we all understand, this is almost half of our country.

He noted that there are pyrotechnic units in each region of Ukraine, a total of about 550 pyrotechnicians work in the SES. They neutralize two to six thousand explosive devices a day.

Cooper stressed that the russian occupiers used anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, in the Kharkiv region, the enemy used remote mining systems. Currently, the main demining efforts are focused on the Irpin-Bucha, Chernihiv-Brovary, Nizhyn and Trostyanets areas.
