Russians captured 80% of Luhansk region – the head of the Regional Military Administration

The head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Haidai stated that 80% of the territory of the Luhansk region is under russian control.

“Russia is definitely not going to stop there and will move on,” he told CNN. He added that the russian occupiers were very scattered.

“We have a very serious situation here. The whole territory of Luhansk region is under fire. There is no safe city … We understand that russia is moving forward and is going to destroy everything in its path. So what we are doing is trying to evacuate everyone as much as possible.”

Gaidai called on civilians to leave the eastern region of Ukraine as hostilities intensify. According to him, out of 350 thousand people who lived in Luhansk region before the war, today there are about 70 thousand.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the russians had started a big “battle for Donbas.”

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that russian troops went on the offensive in eastern Ukraine, in particular in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
