Ukraine will withdraw from any negotiations with Russia if “our people are destroyed” in Mariupol or if the occupiers hold a pseudo-referendum, in particular in the Kherson region.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference in the subway on Saturday, April 23, answering questions from journalist Kristina Berdynskykh.
Comment: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
“If our people in Mariupol are destroyed, if pseudo-referendums are held in the occupied territories, Ukraine will withdraw from any negotiations.”
According to him, people who are in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, not only in Kherson, but also in other territories, such as the Zaporizhzhia region, should not help the occupiers.
Comment: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
“Our intelligence data, as well as information from local residents, show that in Kherson they go to apartments and collect data about local residents. I believe that this will not benefit the diplomatic settlement of the situation and it will prevent the end of the war.”
According to the President of Ukraine, holding any pseudo-referendums is a wrong step on the part of Russia. This suggests that all previous meetings of diplomats are fiction and political theater with very bad actors.
Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine is currently not capable of a military blockade of Mariupol.
