Baroness Helena Kennedy, a British human rights activist who is a member of a group of lawyers gathering evidence of Russian military war crimes in Ukraine, said the Russian occupiers had obtained illegal permission to commit atrocities against civilians in Ukraine. In fact, they have “implicit permission” to rape in Ukrainian cities.
According to her, the data collected now indicate “serious crimes” committed by the Russian military.
However, she notes that the Russian military, which commits rape, has a kind of “immunity”, because, according to her, no one was punished for such actions in the Russian army.
In addition, the lawyer noted that prosecuting people for such crimes is usually “very difficult.”
