Russian military kidnapped two British volunteers in Zaporizhzhia. The Office of the Prosecutor General informs about it and notes that criminal proceedings have already been instituted on this fact under the article on violation of the laws and customs of war.
Comment: “According to the investigation, on April 25, 2022, servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces abducted two volunteers from Great Britain who were involved in organizing and providing evacuation corridors in the Zaporizhzhia region. Their whereabouts are currently unknown,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said
The BBC and CNN were the first to report that the Russian military had abducted two British volunteers. They referred to the words of Dominik Byrne, co-founder of a network of charitable organizations operating in Ukraine.
According to Byrne, on April 28, these volunteers tried to evacuate a mother with two children from a Russian-controlled settlement, but the Russian military stopped them at a checkpoint, after which contact with the British disappeared.
There are no comments from the Russian side.
