Russians keep at least 3,000 Mariupol residents in a filtration camp over pro-Ukrainian stance

Russian occupation forces are holding at least 3,000 civilians in Mariupol on the premises of the former penitentiary No. 52 in the village of Olenivka, the Donetsk Oblast, because of their active pro-Ukrainian stance. This was stated by the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko live on the TV marathon, quotes “Interfax-Ukraine”.

Commentary: Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko:

“At least 3,000 Mariupol residents are currently being held in the Olenivka prison, in this filtration jail. Only because they have an active pro-Ukrainian stance. Isn’t this repression, political persecution?”

At the same time, he stressed that “the repressive machine is being strengthened again” all over Mariupol and in the Mariupol district.

Commentary: Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko:

“They’re actively looking for people who have a certificate of participation in hostilities since 2014. And they are taken to Donetsk in the same way, i.e. not to Olenivka, but to the ‘glorious’ Isolation (torture prison).”

Besides, he noted that in Mariupol, compared to Melitopol and Kherson, “the situation is not oriented on the organization of a resistance movement.”

Commentary: Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko:

“And this is probably one of the answers to why there is still not a single hint of a normal life because they are very afraid of resistance.”
