The occupiers keep more than 10,000 residents of Mariupol in the “prisons” of the so-called “DNR”.
This was reported by the Mariupol City Council in Telegram.
Representatives of the Mariupol city council emphasize that peaceful, civilian residents were detained by the occupiers and sent to places of deprivation of liberty. Currently, there is information about four such prisons: two in Yelenivka, in the Donetsk Pre-trial Detention Center and Makiivka.
According to the city council, the prisoners are in terrible and inhumane conditions, like in a concentration camp. Closed in cramped cells 2 by 3 meters for 10 people, the people of Mariupol hardly receive water and food. They are not taken outside. They have no access to normal medical care and are subjected to various forms of torture, from psychological to physical.
Comment: Mariupol City Council
“The occupiers have created real concentration camp conditions in which peaceful residents of Mariupol are forced to survive,” the city council emphasizes.
“I call on the International Red Cross and the UN to pay attention to the illegal detention of civilians in the city. To use all possible tools to obtain lists of prisoners. To ensure that they currently receive decent living conditions. And to work together on the liberation of every citizen of Mariupol“, – stressed the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko.
