The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain summoned the Russian ambassador Andrii Kelin due to reports of the death of British citizen Paul Urey in the captivity of pro-Russian militants in the territory not under the control of Ukraine.
Earlier today, it became known that British citizen Paul Urey died in captivity in the occupied territory of Donetsk region. According to the Ukrainian BBC service, Paul Urey was 45 years old and was a volunteer who cooperated with the non-governmental organization Presidium Network and helped Ukrainians during the war. Urey’s family told reporters that he had type 1 diabetes.
It is reported that Paul Urey was detained at one of the checkpoints in the south of Ukraine on April 25, when he tried to enter the territory controlled by the Russians.
Today, the websites of the “DNR” group reported with reference to the so-called “ombudsman” Daria Morozova that the death of Paul Uri occurred on July 10. She calls the man a “British mercenary” and claims that the cause of death was chronic illness.
