At a lunch with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv, guests were offered melons and watermelons from liberated settlements in the Kherson region.
This was announced by the head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“And the saliva flows, and the eyes water. “Zelensky offers melons and watermelons from the recently de-occupied villages of the Kherson region to von der Leyen at dinner,” Maasikas said.
The EU ambassador also published a photo with treats and a postcard, which celebrates the courage of Ukrainian soldiers and the carefully planned counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as Kherson Oblast’s leadership in the cultivation of melon crops.
“Kherson watermelons are known for their quality far beyond the borders of the region – they are to some extent the main product of the region. Today we want to treat you to watermelons and melons grown in the recently de-occupied villages,” the leaflet emphasized.
As reported, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen arrived on a visit to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday, September 15.
