The Russians cynically killed the captured Ukrainian soldiers in the colony in the occupied Olenivka. Almost immediately, the propagandists began to shift the blame to Ukraine, using the technique of providing an “informational alibi.”
This was reported by the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security Council.
Thus, the first reports that the Ukrainian side is allegedly planning to fire at the prisoner-of-war camp in Olenivka, where defenders from “Azovstal” are located, appeared on Russian media resources as early as June 5, 2022.
After the actual commission of the crime, the aggressor scaled up a disinformation campaign, trying to shift responsibility for all war crimes committed by the Kremlin to Ukraine, while declaring that “all responsibility for the bloody massacre against Ukrainians is personally borne by Zelenskyi, his criminal regime and Washington.”
